I don’t use my upright much. I’ve only used it about 10 times. Since I cleaned it out, when I pull back on the handle, dirt comes out. Also, when I change the floor surfaces and go from carpet to linoleum or Visa verse. Dirt comes out and I have to pull off the hose to touch up and pick it up. Whatsuuup???
There’s a short hose that comes from the nozzle portion of the vacuum, (where the agitator is), up to the side where the longer stretch hose connects. That short portion of hose is almost surely plugged with something. That’s why you can’t pick things up while sweeping, but you still have vacuum when you take the hose loose for edge cleaning. Notice the speed change on the motor when you remove that stretch hose and put it back into the shorter one. If the motor speeds up when you put it back in the connection, that’s a dead giveaway that it’s plugged. Get whatever’s in there out and you should be good to go.
are you sure it’s hooked up right. check the hose to make sure its not plugged up. it sounds to me like when you go to the linoleum and dirt comes out, the brushes are spinning but not sucking up the dirt. also, take the canister off and put it back on making sure it has a good seal, as a bad seal will reduce sucking power.
