Hey there, maybe I can help.
This canister isn’t a bad machine, but it’s not a great machine either. We were selling them for awhile, but didn’t get a great response. Even had someone bring it back for an exchange. Hoover has taken a slide in recent years; most of their operations are out of China and Mexico, so the quality isn’t where it used to be on many of their models. You’d have to get into the Platinum line of thiers to get a top notch one anymore.
If you’re set on a canister, I’d try looking at several options:
1. Miele Titan Canister – made in Germany, it has a 7 year warranty. They are more expensive than the Hoover, but it has more suction than any canister I know of, the best filter, and made from the same plastic motor cycle helmets are made from. It also has variable speed controls.
2. Panasonic Canisters – I don’t suggest one over the other specifically, but the MC-CG902 is one we sell online and has scored tops in consumer reviews lately. It’s also in the same price range as the one you’re looking at ($229 from us). If you visit their website, you can look in the Platinum section for some more canisters which are a step above the 902, but to buy those you’d have to go to a store that sells them like a vacuum shop, or call someone like us directly to work out pricing – they can’t be sold direct online.
3. Electrolux Canisters – They have really stepped up their game as of late w/ some great items. Again, you’ll either have to visit a vacuum shop or call someone direct as they aren’t sold online.
Best of luck, and if you need more help, feel free to reach out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hoover S3670 Anniversary WindTunnel Bagged Canister-Excellent Vac!, October 16, 2008

It’s been a long road to get to this particular vacuum. About a year ago, I bought a used Filter Queen that was touted as the best canister on market. I hated it from the start, would just push objects across the carpet instead of picking them up. DREADED using it, it was so cumbersome and didnt have any modern features, such as auto cord rewind. So finally was able to sell that, even lost a few bucks on deal but just wanted it out of the house.
Then I bought what I thought I wanted, a Sears model. Have had a Sears Progressive before but the quick release feature broke on it (a piece of plastic inside tube, could not be fixed) and now it was quick releasing too quickly…..
So I thought that would be a good choice but once I got it home, it just seemed flimsy and cheap. Didn’t even work so well. So back to the store it went. Seems Sears products are getting flimsier and are not the same quality as of just a few years ago.
Did a bunch of internet research and came upon this Hoover model. Was not even aware that other vacuums, other than Sears, had the quick release feature. This is my major requirement, and was pleased to find another option than Sears. All reviews I found spoke highly of this vacuum, so I ordered it sight unseen and it arrived yesterday.
Well I am most pleased!!! Just taking it out of the box the quality seemed superior to the Sears model I had just returned. Also very sharp looking, and it works great!! Super long cord, telescopic wand, really generous sized hardwood floor attachment and it also has this odd shaped onboard brush attachment , that I am in love with. It is the perfect shape to clean your baseboards and with your adjustable wand, there is no need for alot of uncomforable bending. Great for a tall gal! So I am now a very happy neat freak, finally have a vacuum I am happy with and look forward to using!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Pros and cons…., November 5, 2008

I purchased a Hoover carpet shampooer recently, and was very pleased with performance and quality, so naturally I looked at Hoover’s line of vacuums. The price for the canister was a bit much, I thought—but I liked the idea of the freedom it offered, having had uprights for the last 10 years. My first impression was that the quality of the plastic wasn’t there, so only 3 stars–for example, if you open the top to reveal the two small attachments (the other two: floor/brush and upholstery won’t fit anywhere), the lid seems like it wouldn’t take much pressure to accidently snap it off. Also, when it arrived, the plastic window covering wasn’t attached–no problem, it snapped right in—but it left me with an unsettled feeling about my purchase. The good news is that it’s pretty easy to roll, the handle is adjustable, and for the first time in ages I can actually vacuum under my bed 🙂 I also like the way the canister secures the handle; it doesn’t take much more room than the upright. The suction is good, as I haven’t seen my carpet’s nap in a while; it’s around 5 years old. Overall, I think if it were priced a little less or the plastic was more durable, I’d feel better…but with both Hoover products, my carpet is looking more like its old ‘new’ self.
