Hi,
I got my Hoover Pet Cyclonic new about six months ago. I don’t know how much it cost, because my roommate bought it. It’s not the prettiest vacuum cleaner in the world, that’s for sure, but that’s just my opinion. The maroon color scheme just doesn’t do it for me. Sorry Hoover! Assembly was quick and easy, just a few screws to attach the handle.
The first time I used it to vacuum my rugs (after I figured out how to set the height of the motorized carpet brush) I was pretty impressed, especially with the vacuum motor’s powerful suction. My last Hoover (an 8-year-old WindTunnel) had never been this powerful, so the Pet Cyclonic’s suction was a welcome attribute.
Powerful suction wasn’t limited to cleaning my rugs; it also continues to the vacuum‘s extension hose, which could easily out-perform many shop vacs (don’t do it though, a household vacuum isn’t designed for that kind of debris). With the long hose, extension wands and crevice tool, I had no problem quickly cleaning dust and cobwebs from the ceiling and vacuuming hard-to-reach areas like corners and underneath baseboards.
The included pet tool (a handheld suction-powered rotating brush) is good for cleaning pet hair from pillows, pet beds and carpeted climbing perches. But be careful; if you don’t let the brush get up to full speed, before using it, it tends to get jammed with pet hair. With a little patience (and an occasional cleaning) it does a great job at removing hair where you’d normally have to use a piece of tape or sticky lint roller.
The only problems (minor) that I’ve found with the Hoover Pet Cyclonic vacuum is that the cord is a bit shorter than I’d like, the aforementioned pet tool jamming, and the flexible hose has a tendency to pinch my arm. That was annoying until I figured out how to just work around it.
While I think that before buying a vacuum cleaner, you should determine your own needs, do your research and shop around, I would definitely say that the Hoover Pet Cyclonic is a good unit, it’s performed well for me for the past six months. So I would recommend it.
