This review is from: Bissell PowerClean Multi Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum, 16N54 (Kitchen)

The Bissell model that this PowerClean model 16N54 replaced in our home was the light blue Bissell 5770 Healthy Home Bagless Upright Vacuum. Why did I chose this model instead of the newer Healthy Home 16N53? This PowerClean I found locally for $10 cheaper ($189) than on Amazon and honestly, there is not really a different between them unless someone really is paranoid about germs an allergies the other may, psychologically, make them feel better.

We really liked our old vacuum and it lasted as long as its 5 warranty (2006-2011) before the on/off switch began to malfunction; it was a power horse. I loved it much better than the Hoover Windtunnel it had replaced. After looking at newer Hoovers and the Shark Navigator, this Bissell won out because I had become attached to features we need (for both carpet & hard floors) like the adjustable brush height and the ability to turn the brush on and off which the Shark Navigator does neither. Plus it has the rubber wheels which I have come to prefer. I also like having my tools on board and not in a bag (unlike the Shark). Our house is not small or cramped so the 15in wide aspect of this vacuum is great for open, roomy homes. This vacuum also comes with a lifetime belt, and the one on our 5 yr old Bissell never broke. I also wanted to stay bagless and away from Hoover’s paper tube filters that do not clean well. Although we did notice that this newer model at first seemed, I hate to use the word, “cheaper” because it doesn’t seem as tough and durable as our older Bissell Healthy Home, it is also 7.5 lbs lighter. The old vac was 29.5 lbs and this one is 22. So I do like that this new one is lighter and it works just the same. It maneuvers fine and is easy to empty and clean, not to mention that it cleans all floors VERY well.

Since manufacturers are dead set on making everything so cheap these days, I currently like to stay between $150-$200 on a vacuum and buy one every 5 years or so (as I don’t ask more from a vacuum than for it to last at least as long as it’s warranty which is 5 yrs in this case); I do however hope I can get this Bissell to last longer than it’s 5 yr warranty. Bissell is running a rebate until mid October for $20 off all vacs over $100, so I sent that in which brought my total for this vac to $169. I am happy considering that the $475 Dyson that was sitting next to it on the shelf only had a 2 year warranty, per stated on the box. I will gladly take my chances with the Bissell again. :
